The Real Completed Baby Sampler

Okay, okay, here is the completed baby sampler. I have redacted Emma's middle and last names to protect her identity. I will now give it to my friend, Emma's grandma, who will either make a small quilt out of it or perhaps a pillow before giving it to her son & daughter-in-law. I hope they all like it.
The bunny was a pain in the a**!! Now I remember why I don't cross stitch animals anymore. I'm going to move on to a cross stitch of Cinderella that I've been working on for a while. It's got big blocks of color which make it a very easy pattern to do but also makes it very boring. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it when it's done but now I think I will give it to my brother and his wife for Christmas (maybe not 2008 though). They love all things Disney! I will take a pic of what I've completed of the Cinderella pattern for my next post. Next weekend will be another filmfest weekend so I may not have time to take a pic but I will have tons of time to cross stitch.

Baby Sampler Finally Completed!!!!

Here is the baby sampler completely done. Some parts have been redacted to protect our operatives and our national security.

Baby Sampler Coming To An End

As you can see, I've finished with the regular stitches on this baby sampler. Yeah... and there was much rejoicing! I even started on the backstitching on the right side and mapped out the baby information for the center. I thought the teddy bear was bad but the rabbit was much worse... lots of color changes. In addition to that the rascally rabbit has french knots for eyes. I hate doing french knots. Of course, the baby information will have about 8-10 french knots. Grrrrr. Still, I expect to have it completed this weekend, french knots and all.

I was able to get so much done because it's a great hobby to do while watching videos. This weekend we watched the entire John Adams miniseries. It was excellent. I would highly recommend it to everyone. I wish HBO would do miniseries on each of the founding fathers. It's a great way to learn history.

28 July 2008

Here's the latest cross stitch update. I had the 3 blocks and the ball done on the right side and found I was off by a row. I had to rip all of it out and redo that part. It's very annoying to have to do that. Then I thought I had really messed up because when ripping it out, I cut some of the material. Oops! Seems to be holding once I stitched over that area again. I hope it doesn't come undone. I've started on the bunny and have about half of his body done. Once the bunny is done, I think the rest will go pretty quickly. Maybe 2 more weekends and I'll be done. That will be nice.

14 July 2008

Well, I actually got more cross stitch done than I thought I would over the weekend. I've completed the backstitching on the left side and the railroad tracks running to the right side. Maybe I actually will finish this before the baby turns one!

End of Vacation

Well, my vacation is almost over. I hate to go back to work tomorrow. I was able to read two books (Condi by Antonia Felix and Breakdown by Bill Gertz) and get quite a bit of my cross stitch done. Here's a picture of my work to date.

My niece came over for a few days and we did some shopping and then had a filmfest weekend. We watched Dawn of the Dead which is a family favorite. We also watched all six Star Wars movies and the three Resident Evil movies. It was the first time I'd seen the R.E. films and I enjoyed them quite a bit.

This is how much I have done of this cross stitch project. Not very much. I hope to get more done over vacation next week.
